Murder charge dropped against man accused over young dad s alleged killing
Naeem Iqbal will instead faces charges of assisting an offender intending to pervert the course of justice
A murder charge against a man accused of murdering a young Stockton dad has been dropped.
Naeem Iqbal appeared at court on Friday facing charges of murder and manslaughter following the death of Adam Chawla in Stockton earlier this year.
Prosecutor, Dafydd Enoch QC said there was insufficient evidence to try the 50-year-old for murder and manslaughter and so those charges against him were dropped.
Mr Chawla died in hospital after suffering significant injuries at a home on Eleanor Place in Bowesfield, Stockton, on Friday, February 19.
